Dun & Bradstreet is working in collaboration with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) on the Global Business Identifier (GBI) Initiative. The GBI initiative is working to develop a single identifier solution with a plan to replace the CBP Manufacturer Identifier Code (MID).

What is the Global Business Identifier (GBI) Initiative?

The Global Business Identifier (GBI) initiative aims to develop a single identifier solution that will:

• improve the U.S. government's ability to pinpoint high-risk shipments and facilitate legitimate trade;
• create a "common language" between government and industry;
• improve data quality and efficiency for identification, enforcement, and risk assessment.
